Can't shrink for 8.5gb disks. Why not?

I have Shrink 3.2, using Windows XP Pro. If I have a movie that is, say 9.2 gb and requires a shrink to fit on a 8.5 double sided blank disk, Shrink will not do it. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, I am new here and do not understand Chetwood reply.

When I try to shrink a converted .avi file (using WinAvi) and the file is, say 8.7 gig, shrink refused to shrink it.

I would like to know why, and/or how to get shrink to reduce large files.

I have no problem shrinking, say a 4.85 size down to regular DVD size, but not a big file.

What am I doing wrong?
