If it does not work for you, consider your platform of WIN7. You may have to upgrade to "XP Mode," which on the lower versions of WIN7, is not included within the platform.

It's a 90 dollar upgrade, which can be purchased from the START MENU---> WINDOWS ANYTIME UPGRADE.

After you request it from Microsoft, you will pay for it and be sent a code to activate the "XP MODE." You will have to run "Genuine advantage" to get the upgrade, if your Windows is genuine. If you are on a fake version of Win7, you will not get the upgrade offered to you.

Please note that it was written for XP. So if it does not work, the XP drivers and programming was not included in your version of WIN7.

So the real answer to this question is "yes, it is compatible with Windows 7.... but you may need to upgrade your "XP MODE" to get it to work... then run it in XP mode, manually."

XP mode simply is Microsoft's Virtual PC 7 and a free image of Windows XP. So how come I don't need it to run on my Win 7?

Some people might need it, as I was pointing out.

If you are on a higher version of windows, they included the XP SP3 programming in... or virtual PC. It's the lower forms of WIN7 that they "cut corners to cut costs" and did not include this option with. Win7 Home, is the bargain basement version. Some computers have that (Win 7 Home) already installed, as mine did. The XP mode upgrade was 90 dollars, instead of the upgrade of 150 dollars or more... or even buying another PC.

That's the only thing I can think of.

Yes, they did not include this option. No, you still don't need it. As I was saying, I do have a "higher version" of Win 7 installed but I don't use XP mode ever. I haven't even downloaded the virtual image. Besides, a friend of mine has home premium installed, the version where they "cut corners to cut costs" installed and Shrink runs there flawlessly as well.
