Disc size twice as large as usual, unable to re-author

Postby slee » Mon Aug 22, 2011 3:09 pm

Been using DVD Shrink for a while to copy & send home videos without any problems. However, recently I've been having issues with weirdly sized files. When I open a disc in DVD Shrink, the menu shows "Title 1, 3" even though there should only be 1 title on the DVD. The size of the titles are twice as large as it should be. In other words, my home video seems to have duplicated itself...

When I go to Re-author, two separate (identical) titles are shown. When I choose one of these and back-up, the resulting iso file is exactly the same size as before re-authoring. I can't seem to only back-up one of these files!

The files play as usual but are so large, it takes forever to send. Anything I can do to only back-up one of the files shown, or even better, stop getting duplicated files?

Thanks!

What do you mean by 'send'? Have you tried unchecking View > Combine Shared Titles? There are some authorings, Shrink can't handle but usually it properly separates titles so the resulting DVD should fit on a blank (if it's not a copy protection that causes this).

Thanks for the quick answer Chetwood. By send, I mean send to someone via Rapidshare or the like. And no, there is no copy protection because these are work-related videos that I film myself.

I tried unchecking Combine Shared Titles, when I did this the titles seperate themselves but when I choose only one of them to back-up, the resulting file is still the same size as when they were combined. So weird, when I did this before with several titles on the same disc it worked fine.

Apparently the authoring went somewhat wrong. But since reauthoring yields titles < 4,5 GB, there's no shrinking to be done anyway. If you want to have smaller files still, you need to manually set compression or use AutoGK, Handbrake or Staxrip to convert to another format.
