DVD Shrink problem-Failed to read file.

Postby guardian-angel-671 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 9:29 pm

I tried to check with search option & didn't turn up anything.I also read the faq page. First off it said something bout a structure issue. so i read faq & it suggested to use AnyDVD or another program.I decided to try the AnyDVD.Now after AnyDVD does it's scan,DVD Shrink says it can't find the DVD file.Did I do something wrong? I'm trying to back up the movie SAW 3.I'm hoping I have the settings right for the AnyDVD program.I've never used any of these programs before. thanks.

Letting AnyDVD rip the disc to your HDD should either end up in IFOs/VOBs or an ISO file. If it's the latter open it in Shrink with CTRL-I.

Since I use DVDfab I don't have AnyDVD installed but I know for sure that there is an option to rip the entire disc to your HDD. Maybe right-clik on the tray icon or something.

they ended up in IFOs/VOBs format-so those can't be shrunk right?

Of course, select open files and the dir those files have been saved to. Also check the FAQ for links to tutorials on how to work with Shrink.

Probably a poorly pressed disc, try cleaning it , if that doesnt work try another disc.

The error I receive is below:
---------------------------
DVD Shrink 3.2
---------------------------
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

Failed to open file "C:\Users\PaCoTeAe\Desktop\Misc Movies, Pics, songs\TMNT SSN2\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_9.VOB"
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
I used dvdsoft's program called FreeStudio to convert my 2nd Season of TMNT of 13 episodes to a video folder instead of avi files so now it's listed in a dvd folder with a audio and video folder as vob files that is when I receive this error. Not sure why. I did the same process for a movie no more than a year old. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know FreeStudio (not TMNT) but it looks like it did not rip the files properly which is why Shrink can't open them. IIRC the highest number allowed in the DVD specs is VTS_xx_8 which is why Shrink can't open VTS_01_9.VOB (or it's 9 and an IFO is missing?).
